Nearby, we found a golf course that was open early and had bargain greens fees. We had to watch out for the snow in the sand traps.

Best Things About the Resort:
We had a great one bedroom suite. There was even a whirlpool and sauna right there for our use.

Resort Experience:
The resort had a great beach, and even a mini-golf surface by the club house. The indoor pool was fabulous, with a view of the lake and all that goes on.

The resort eatery had a nightly special. Once it was a mexican dish with steak along with 75 cent Margaritas.

The Spine Trail is a great family bicycle trail. It's relatively flat, and has a paved surface. There are a few miles of on street biking, but it's easy to go in the right direction.

The trail starts in Milford, just 2 miles south of the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. It runs 12 miles up to Spirit Lake north of route 9 through Spirit Lake, Iowa.

There were numerous golf facilities in the area. One only had to ask.

If you like water sports, there would be ample opportunity to sunbathe, swim or sail during the summer. The lake was huge by any standards. Our resort even had a touring boat for nightly trips.
