Branson a Family Vaction

A May 2002 trip to Branson by TrinaL

Quote: Most people don't realize that Branson has several activities and interest for everyone and not just for those who like golf and country music. Branson has several different types of shows, a theme park, shopping, and two large lakes for those who have boats and love water sports.

Branson a Family Vaction

Overview

Quote:
Branson has quite a few things to see and do. Silver Dollar City is a theme park and has music shows, saloon shows, rides, shops, and great food. If you like dinner shows, I would suggest the Dixie Stampede. We were able to visit the horses at the stables. They had a pre-dinner show with a man who did tricks with a lasso. Dinner kind of reminds you of medieval times with an arena and each side of the arena cheered for their side. The food was brought out and it was all finger food. During dinner they put on the main show which was wonderful. There was dancing, music, comedy, and horse races. The Shepard of The Hills is a story based on the settlers that started there. It was a...Read More

It also had a great indoor and outdoor pool. It was also close to everything.Resort Experience:We had a two bedroom unit and could be separated into two different rooms. It had a full kitchen with microwave and dishwasher. Complete dishes and a large dining room table in the one room, in the second it had a mini-kitchen with everything as well. The unit was beautiful and well-kept up. Each bedroom had a king size bed and TV in each room. In the living room there ...Read More

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede & Dinner Show

Attraction | "Dixie Stampede"

Quote:
This is a dinner and show (like Medieval Times) where you sit around in an arena. Each side cheers on their color. In this way, it is based on the Civil War. The food is served during dinner and you eat it with your hands, no silverware. It is a great show for the whole family. There is dancing, singing, horse races, and comedy. They also have a pre-dinner show and allow you into the stables beforehand to see the horses. It was definitely worth the money.

Marvel Cave

Attraction | "Silver Dollar City"

Quote:
We had purchased a package deal and it included 2 days to Silver dollar City. It was great weather for the time we went in May, but it was too hot to walk around and enjoy the day. The park offers shuttle service from the parking lot. Silver Dollar City has great food. They have a bakery shop that you just can't miss. It is not far from the front gate and they have wonderful desserts there. In fact, there was great food everywhere you went. Still, the place I liked walking through the most was the Christmas shop. There is a train that also takes you around the park. There were old time saloons and shows and singing throughout the park. Not only is it an amusement park, but it is also a Theme Park:...Read More

Shepherd of the Hills

Attraction | "Shepard of the Hill"

Quote:
This a great history lesson for those of you who enjoy that type of thing. It is an outdoor theater. To start you get to go on a tour and learn a little about the story of the Sherard of the Hills before the play. Cost of your ticket includes a dinner at the outdoor cafe. The meal is pre-planned and after you eat, they take you down to the theater. In May it got a little cold at night so they do offer blankets for only $2 which I would recommend if you travel in May. They put the play on when it gets dark out. It was different to see a play outside at night but it was very interesting.
