A Whale of a Time

An August 2002 trip to Niagara Falls by jules3106

Quote: Niagara Falls is a busy tourist center with natural beauty and a lot of man-made fun. My daughter was seven-years-old and loved every action packed minute. Marineland and the 'penny' arcades were her favorites, while I still like the Falls the best.

My daughter was seven-years-old when we went last summer, and I think I was around that age when I last was at Niagara Falls, Ontario. Wow, has it changed. The Falls themselves are gorgeous and almost overwhelming, and most of the attractions in this town are action packed. Marineland was the best. Just walking the main street was fascinating because there are a lot of 'sideshow' type amusements. Family restaurants and fancy places to eat - lots to pick from. Kids love the arcades where they can play games, win tickets, and cash them in for prizes - at least mine does! Quick Tips: Can't beat the breakfast buffet at IHOP - International House of Pancakes! Parking is free, and it is easy to find with all of the signs. Plan to spend the whole day, and you can bring a picnic lunch to relax under the trees. There were free running deer inside a fort which you could feed, but they get a bit close. The whale show was the best, and this includes some comedy from the actors as well as the seals and orca whales. There are also lots of rides for the kids to ride over and over again if they like, because it is all-in...Read More

Just thought I would add a note that I would stay in this area longer if I had the chance next time. This trip was the beginning of our drive back from Toronto to Alberta, and I had unexpectedly come down with pneumonia. Luckily the walk-in medical center in Niagara Falls got me back to health, but due to my health we didn't see half of what there is to offer.

I would have also liked to go under the Falls, and over to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
