A March 2003 trip to Parrsboro by Tenia
Quote: If you're into dinosaurs or rocks you have to stop into Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. Right on the Minas Basin with amazing tides of over 30 feet difference twice a day, it is a walkers and photographers paradise. This is our hometown and the location of our summer cottage.
Overview
One of the sites the dinousaur interested needs to see is Wassons Bluff - "Parrsboro Fossil Site designated a Special Place under the terms of the Special Places Protection Act on March 1, 1990. The designation was based on the 200 million year-old fossil assemblages discovered in 1984 by a team of American scientists led by Dr. Paul Olsen of Columbia University and Neil Shubin of Harvard University. The team returned to the site in 1985, when they collected three tons of bone-bearing matrix which contained 100,000 pieces of bone from a series of assemblages."
Ships Company Theatre is live theatre playing in the summer on an old Ferry that has been converted into a stage. For those interested in eating, some of the best seafood around can be found right here at the Parrsboro Wharf.
