BUNAC's Work in Brittain

A November 2002 trip to Sheffield by zachisbest

Quote: Sheffield is desperately trying to recover from its lost steel mining industry. A recent surge of trendy new stores, cultural cerntres, and theatres are the seeds of Sheffileld's economic recovery. It's still not a thrill of a tourist destination, though.

Restaurant | "BRB"

This place has fabulous wood-fired pizza. I had crispy duck, with spring onions. However, you MUST go on a Tuesday evening. The pizzas are 2 for the price of 1. The place is buzzing, and you can get a bottle of house wine for £6. I had a great meal with my girlfriend, including wine, for £13 ($20).

Sheffield Winter Gardens

Attraction | "Sheffield Winter Garden's"

The Sheffield Winter Gardens are enclsoed in a giant glass house that can be seen from all over town. However, don't be fooled. The winter gardens are quite small, and in the spirit of the UK, an excuse for a poor shopping centre. Especially coming from San Diego, the featured Birds of Paradise, would not have been worth the walk over there if I had not enjoyed the walk itself.
