Oregon Coast
Lone Ranch Picnic Area just north of Brookings is a stretch of beach 'just for walking' and one of our favorite spots. The waves crashing on the rocks and the beautiful scenery make this a very special place.

Quick Tips:

We've left home when it was 90 degrees and found the coast to be around 60 degrees and quite windy, so bring along a sweatshirt and windbreaker, bundle up and have a great time.

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving is best as public transportation is spotty. Lots of viewpoints to park, then put on your walking shoes and take off down to the beach.

Very clean but basic motel on the main street (Hwy. 101) of Brookings. Close to several restaurants. About 1/2 mile from beach. There is no ocean view here.

A very nice and homey place to take a rest. Clean and well appointed, comfortable rooms. Gracie makes you feel right at home. After dinner, take a stroll down to the bay and watch the fishing boats come in. A very relaxing place.

Mo's RestaurantBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Mo's"

Great seafood lunches or dinner whether it's crab, lobster, or fish and chips. Everything I've ever eaten here has been delicious. Although Mo's restaurants are scattered up and down the Oregon Coast, I like the one in Newport the best.

This is the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. When you see it you'll know why. Its setting is spectacular. Viewpoints are conveniently available on the highway.

Story/Tip

A day at the Oregon Coast
Brookings is the 'banana belt' of Oregon located just north of the California border. The fields are bursting with Easter lillies. The Chetco River empties into the Pacific Ocean at Brookings.

Bandon, ORBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

'Bandon-by-the-Sea' has a beautiful lighthouse, lots of touristy shops in the oldtown area, a Fall Cranberry Festival and a cheese factory where you can purchase many different varieties of cheeses. However, the ice cream cones at the cheese factory are huge and delicious. Get a double scoop and enjoy......

Lincoln City, ORBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

A beautiful coastal city with lots of things to do. The ocean, shopping at the Factory Outlet Stores, many great restaurants as well. Plan to attend one of the two Kite Festivals held here in May and September. Hundreds of kites fly over the beach and provide a spectacular site.

Newport, ORBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Newport is the home of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. A historic Bayfront offers a mixture of restaurants, art galleries and shops. The Oregon Coast Aquarium and the Mark O. Hatfield Marine Science Center are popular attractions and well worth a visit.
