The Quarter House in New Orleans is a fantastic resort. A peaceful refuge in the middle of the French Quarter. It is within walking distance to the Quarter, Casino and street cars. They provide first class accommodations and excellent service. I spent the week visiting plantations, the zoo, aquarium, taking a carriage ride and dining in excellent restaurants.

While in New Orleans, be sure to get out of the Quarter long enough to visit the Garden District. You can take the Street Car down Saint Charles Avenue all the way to Carrolton Avenue. You will pass some of the most beautiful pre-civil war homes ever! You will also be passing Loyola and Tulane Universities and Audubon Park filled with the beautiful live oaks.

Quick Tips:

If you are interested in the zoo and aquarium, purchase the combination pass along with the riverboat ride. It will take you to the zoo from the riverfront in the Quarter. A good deal and you can use the tickets for different days of the week.

Best Way To Get Around:

Be sure to take one evening to do a carriage ride through the Quarter. You'll hear some great stories and see a lot of the historical places while enjoying the view from the carriage.

Petunia's

Restaurant

Excellent food and service was superb! Definitely try the desserts! There was five of us dining on a Friday evening, and we walked right in. Listen to the waiters' suggestions, they won't steer you wrong!

We met at a bar called The Morgue. This tour was highly recommended and for good reason. Randy was our guide and he did a terrific job of relaying the historical facts along with the local legends. Not a lot of "gotcha" gimmicks and drama, just intriguing facts about different locations in the Quarter. Tell them "Allison" recommended the tour and you get a $4/pp discount.
