Hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting -- it's all good! The scenery is beautiful -- so pretty it looks fake! Quick Tips: The word is out on Jackson Hole -- so plan your trip early. It is now a popular destination almost year-round. "Jackson Hole" is actually a valley area which includes the towns of Jackson and Teton Village. I was there in August and the weather was breezy and sunny most of the time, but often rained for a little while in the late afternoon. Aside from booking air and hotel, I would plan your hikes and excursions in advance. Whitewater rafting is popular and you can't just walk into an outfitter and expect to hit the river that day. Jenny Lake -- In Grand Teton National Park, this picturesque lake has a path you can hike all the way around. For the less motivated, there is a boat that goes from the parking area to the other side of the lake. You can take this over and hike either side back or you can hike halfway and take the boat back. Surprise Lake -- This is a beautiful trail with about 23 switchbacks. It comes out at Surprise Lake, which I like to consider a reward for all the effort involved in getting up.
