A May 2002 trip
to Queensland by clarkie
Quote: Noosa is a trendy idyllic coastal town two hours north of Brisbane that is a must for those who can afford it. Hastings Street on the beach is the hub--there are restaurants, bars and cafes where you can sip cocktails after a day of boutique shopping, fishing, surfing, golfing, cruising...
Take a day trip inland to historical Eumundi (30 mintes) or catch the Sun Bus south to Sunshine (10 mins), Coolum (30 mins)or Perigian (20 mins)Beaches. Shopping is absolutely fantastic-you can buy high quality clothes for girls and guys, art, crafts, souvenirs etc.
Their are many day tours to Fraser Island, hinterland, white water rafting, river cruises, fishing, golfing etc.
Finish your day back at the beach sipping a Margarita on the lawn at Sails, a stroll to dinner, then....
Whilst the restaurants are fabulous, varied and expensive you can have a simpler meal at say the Noosa Pub up on the hill before you get to Hastings Street. You can buy excellent food for a picnic from the delis and supermarkets just 5 minutes from Hastings Street. Fresh local seafood, fruit and salads are in abundance. You can buy fish and chip, pizzas or burgers and eat them on the beach. Noosa is popular all year around and attracts people from Sydeny and Melbourne particularly at Christmas, Easter and in winter. It is nice in the winter season as it is quieter.
