My favorite part of the trip was taking the kids out to Isla de Mujeres. Ever since my honeymoon in Hawaii, I'd dreamed of taking our kids snorkeling. It was a dream come true.

Quick Tips:

My only regret was going to Xcaret. We didn't care for it at all. It cost us a small fortune. The only good memory from that place was swimming with the dolphins.

Best Way To Get Around:

Since we had never been there, we chose to stick with tours. Two days we rented a car.

They were great. Everyday we got clean towels, beds made, and refrigerator stocked up with water and domestic beer. Everyone there was extremely helpful. The food was excellent. No one got sick.

Best Things Nearby:
Everything is near. The beach, clubs, shops, and great restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
We felt like we were staying in a villa.

Resort Experience:
It's nice and very family oriented. I'd definitely recommend it if going with kids. Everyone there was so wonderfully friendly. The kids especially love the nightly entertainment shows with Willy.

Restaurant | "La Vela - at Sunset Lagoon Resort"

The food was delicious. It was the best filet mignon I've ever had. The atmosphere was nice. The service great. They didn't mind the kids. They could improve their dessert selection, but other than that all the choices on the menu were good.
