I can't believe how quickly the week went. The weather was poor early on, however, I was not in NY shoveling my way out of the storm of the decade, so how bad could it be? It was quite cold the first few days (in the 30s) so I decided not to torture myself by trying to take walks. I could do that at home. So what did I do, alone, with not-nice weather?
I hit the outlets, I hit the movies, and I actually looked at some other timeshare communities that I was considering making a purchase at. I had most of my meals in the unit. The kitchen is all full-size appliances and there is nothing I could not make (or reheat in the microwave).

When the weather cleared and moved to the 50s, I walked every day on the beach (the exercise is good for me I keep telling myself), I sat on the outside lanai and read a book, and I went to the movies in the evening, if the mood struck me. I met up with a friend's dad (Harold) one evening and we went to Martini's for dinner. It was lovely, elegant, and had fabulous food. Equally important, he was great company.
Today is Friday, I can't believe the week is almost over. I can go online with my computer, just by plugging into the phone line and dialing up a local call (no charge) so I can stay in touch. I like this so much that I decided to buy another unit here. They have a great "Hot Sheet" which lists current resales and foreclosures at bargain prices. Why would I buy elsewhere when this place has everything I would want, and of course, I can always use it for a trade.
The drive from where I am in NY (on Long Island) is about 15 hours. I have done it in less (12) and I have done it in more, if traffic through Washington/Baltimore is bad. It can be done in one day, comfortably, if you leave early enough (4am). I am glad I took this trip and did not forego it since no one was available to travel with me.
I am heading further south now, to visit family in Florida, and I may check in with RCI and hook up with a Bonus week for my return trip. Why the rush to get back to the snow and cold? I love traveling and seeing new things. I also don't get bored with myself. I think I will try Colonial Williamsburg on the return trip!
