Breezy Point: Boating, Golf & a Baby

A September 1998 trip to Breezy Point by YourResort

This will tell about the time my wife and I decided to go to Breezy Point with our 6-month-old; how it was very accommodating and great for a relaxing week. Where else can you golf with a 6-month-old.

Best Things Nearby:
Pelican Lake is a wonderful body of water. It is in the middle of many more beautiful lakes. It is wonderful to drive north of Breezy Point and to see the mix of trees and water. Oh, and don't forget about the golf courses in the area.

Best Things About the Resort:
Golf, the lake and more golf! Breezy Point is known for these things and they don't disappoint. The rooms are nice and the rec center is very family-friendly.

Resort Experience:
The condo is cozy with a Minnesota Northwoods feel. The White Birch Golf Course is a true treat, and it is very important to take time to have dinner at Antlers, attached to the White Birch clubhouse. This property makes it easy for you to enjoy the great outdoors and still feel pampered with good service and great food and golf.

The log-beamed structure is a highly romantic venue for a dinner for two (or 3 in our case). The menu has a variety of American dishes, some with a northwoods twist.

We had the salmon steak and a chicken breast with a wine sauce. Both of our main dishes were great. Before we got to the main course, we had asked for 2 refills of the homemade rolls due to their great flavor. We also had a chicken wild rice soup and a Ceasar salad, respectively. Both were all we expected.

The nicest suprise of this dining experience was when our 6-month old started to get fussy during our main course. The waitress took him and walked him around the resturant for at least 10 minutes. She was still able to serve her other tables, but gave us a greatly appreciative break.

This is a must when staying at Breezy Point.

We brought our speed boat and were given a slip in the Breezy Point Lagoon, right outside the door of our condo. Launching the boat was really easy and they had dock boys there to help you. Trailers are parked right at the launch, which can be crowded, but the dock boys assist you and make it trivial. The slips are nice and they come with a few ropes to help moor the boat. We had our infant and felt at ease having him crawl on the dock system.

The lake is a nice size and it's fun to cruise slowly or to open it up for a while. I would highly suggest a lake map with a depth chart, however, as there are rocky sandbars in more than a few locations throughout the lake. The best part of the lake tour is to go up the river on the southwest corner of the lake.
