Best Things Nearby:
Heavenly Ski Resort is directly across the street. Resort is at elevation above lake, so no traffic noise.

Best Things About the Resort:
Concierge arranges a "kickoff reception," where you can learn about area activities, receive discount packets for casinos and activites, win prizes, meet other guests, etc.

Resort Experience:
We had a jacuzzi in our room with very generous towels and soaps provided. Very small kitchen. No lake view due to surrounding pine trees. Staff very friendly with an excellent valet and bell staff. Absolutely first-rate concierge, he kept us busy all week. Take advantage of shuttle to casinos.

Fall ColorsBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

Golden leaves and ferns contrast with pine trees and the clear blue of the sky and Lake Tahoe. Daytime temps call for a longsleeved shirt or light jacket, nights are crisp and cool. Perfect weather for walks and hiking trails. Best of all, no crowds, no road congestions, just peaceful enjoyment of the splendor of nature in this area.

Attraction | "Hiking for Beginners"

For those looking for nature walks and trails that offer good views of the lake without serious effort, you will find them here. We took photographs of the beautiful fall colors with the lake in the background, closeups of hawks and coyotes, and thoroughly enjoyed the perfect weather. Trails are not crowded at all this time of year.

Stateline & RenoBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Stateline and Reno"

Atmosphere is more casual and relaxed than Las Vegas or even Reno. We didn't feel out of place in jeans. There was good shopping as casino stores are moving out summer inventory for winter attire. We're not gamblers, but the resort concierge helped us sign up for cards at several casinos, so we enjoyed some free gambling and other discounts. Just right for us.

Virginia CityBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

Virginia City is an easy drive from Lake Tahoe. Good photos both of Virginia City and the surrounding area, and as you come back into Lake Tahoe; watch for whimsical metal sculptures outside town. Stop for a beer at a saloon and play nickel slots with free coupons. Mark Twain used to live here, so there's lots of interesting memorabilia.
