Balboa Park was great. Be sure to see Old San Diego and have some authentic Mexican food there. A great time!

Quick Tips:

Use the trolly system -- very inexpensive and great for day-tripping.

Best Things Nearby:Movie theater across the freeway and a restaurant called The Fish Company that was great.Best Things About the Resort:Close to freeway to enable leaving everyday. Otherwise, I was not impressed.Resort Experience:This is an aging timeshare that needs some work. We had a 2-bedroom that had a bad odor from the bathroom and an odd set-up -- the master bedroom was on the bottom and the open sitting room/fold-out bed on the top. There is no privacy for parents if traveling with children -- we didn't like that! Everything was breaking. San Diego Zoo and Safari Park

Attraction | "San Diego Zoo"

This is a huge zoo -- you need to be prepared to walk A LOT. If you have any problems walking 2 or more miles in a day, I would recommend planning to reserve a wheelchair. Really, it is a lot of walking and uphill. Pay the extra money for the bus tour and take it early in the day -- it is nice to see the lay of the land to plan your day. Regarding the bus tour, the best seats are not on top for viewing the animals. Take the bottom seat right behind the driver if you can and you'll see EVERYTHING. Don't be misled by the long lines for the top part of the double decker bus. The food in the park is expensive so plan to spend a bit.
