Hotel | "Embassy Vacation Resort at Kaanapali"

Best Things Nearby:
The beach, shopping, good restaurants, and water activities all are in close proximity.

Best Things About the Resort:
Our very comfortable room, friendly staff, location on the beach, and design and landscape, which were pleasing to the eye.

Resort Experience:
The one bedroom and living room had sliding-glass doors out to the lanai. The kitchenette had a sink, small refrigerator, microwave, and some dishes with a dining area. The large bathroom had a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The hotel was built around an atrium from the first floor to the top floor.

Aloha Mixed PlateBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

An open-air restaurant on the beach with picnic tables and umbrellas. The food is served on paper plates, and was very good. Sticky rice with chicken is a recommended dish. It's very casual -- a good place for the kids.

Maalaea GrillBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

The Maalea Grill is located in the Maui Ocean Center complex. The Grill overlooks the harbor which is filled with incoming and outgoing boats that you can watch while eating. The food is a little overpriced but very tasty and the wait staff was very friendly.

Pacific Whale FoundationBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Maui Ocean Center/Pacific Whale Fnd"

The Ocean Center is designed to introduce the spectator to the creatures of the deep. Each portion of the ocean--the shallow, middle, and deep--is sectioned off in the complex, with fish and other creatures that habitat that portion of the sea. One of the most interesting portions is a tube filled with jellyfish, where you can observe them floating and gliding, presenting themselves as the ballerinas of the sea.

The whale-watch is conducted on the ocean, and the guides (employees of the Pacific Whale Foundation) give an educational tour. We saw a mother and her calf with a companion. They performed for us the entire time we were on the boat. It was a fun-filled day.
