Cabbage Key, FL

A May 2001 trip to Cabbage Key by semi75

Although another description in the journals details Cabbage Key as being the origins of the infamous "Cheeseburger in Paradise" song by Jimmy Buffett, I assure you that is not the case. It is, however, a beautiful island located on Florida's Gulf Coast and is definitely worth a visit.

Restaurant

This place had a very unique dining atmosphere, to say the least. The island is acessible only by boat and is frequented by many visiting boaters, sightseeing tours, and various other guests. This is a wonderful place to stop on a warm Florida afternoon for your favorite lunch and beverage.

One of the unique things that most people notice right away is that almost every inch of the older portion of the restaurant's dining area is covered with dollar bills, complete with the names of those who deposited the money. The tradition started long ago by fishermen visting the bar. They would place the dollar for times when the day's fishing was not so profitable. The tradition has been carried on by tourists and guests placing their bills in the same way.
