Life's a beach in Nuevo Vallarta

Some highlights of the trip included a snorkeling cruise to Islas Marietas aboard the catamaran "Geronimo" with a friendly crew and delicious lunch served on board, horseback ride to a jungle waterfall above the town of Quimixto, and getting lost in the downtown flea market. Quick Tips: The town of Bucerias is a great alternative to the crowds and noise of downtown PV, also check out Quimixto to the south of PV. You have to take a water taxi to get there, but a hike or horse ride to the waterfall is well worth it. Don't miss downtown P.V. on Sunday nights when locals come out to stroll the seaside malecon with food, crafts, and balloon vendors everywhere and the municipal band plays in the...Read More
Best Things Nearby:Golf, dolphin encounter, bird sanctuary.Best Things About the Resort:Sumptuously landscaped, three restaurants, the largest swimming pool I've ever seen, and a mile long swimmable beach.Resort Experience:They have a very friendly staff. The resort is very secluded, but a short taxi ride to shopping at Paradise Village Mall and the town of Bucerias. A shuttle takes you to where you can catch a bus into Puerto Vallarta. At the resort itself there are poolside activities for all ages all day and at night there is dancing at the disco (Cobalto). All three restaurants serve very good food and the poolside snackbar is good for lunch. ...Read More

Restaurant | "Señor Mr. Pepe's"

Take a cab to the very top of "restaurant row" well past the tourist area, climb the stairs, and look out over the city to the sea. It is an incredible setting for some terrific food. Señor Mr. Pepe is one of the friendliest people I have ever met and is very (justifiably) proud of his restaurant and his food. When we were there live mood music was presented by a gentleman who played piano and sang very well, setting the mood for a very romantic dinner on the outside terrace. The 5-course meal was beautifully presented and prepared from very fresh ingredients, including a delicious squash soup, fresh grouper, and one of my favorite things about Mexico, FLAN, with Señor Pepe there to make cer...Read More

OK, so it took a couple margaritas by the Mayan Palace pool to get me there, but there I was, on the beach getting strapped in to the harness, watching the rope play out behind the boat as I received my instructions. "Just watch for my friend to drop the yellow flag, and I will blow the whistle, then you reach up and pull on the harness, here." Ok, but the rope was almost all out, and I didn’t feel ready yet. "Now, just sit back." I did, the harness rose to meet me, and just like that, I was up. No jerk, no running a couple of steps, just up. Very smooth. It was a 20-minute ride for about $40.00USD, and what a ride. Down past the entrance to the Marina where I looked down on a cruise ship at dock, ...Read More
