Our Cancun Collection

An April 2002 trip to Cancun by thegrovers

We love Cancun and NEVER get bored. The resort workers in Cancun itself are remarkable -- gracious redefined. Casa Maya is the place we stayed last year and the place we are returning to. WE LOVED IT. Always accommodating and ready to wait on you!

We have toured Chichten Itza, Xcaret, Isla Mujeres, the Jungle Tour, Tres Rios, the downtown markets, shopped the major plazas, snorkeled, and all the way around had one of the most enjoyable relaxable vacations we've ever experienced.

Quick Tips:

Always take time for beach! We toured every other day we were there (this is our 4th annual trip to Cancun) and we wouldn't do it any other way. It was great to look forward to resting the next day if we were on the move and vice versa when we were sitting on the beach.

Best Way To Get Around:

The taxis are a little aggressive when it comes to driving and we tried to avoid it at all costs. Though, when we wanted to try to a new restaurant, we dared to try them. It was fine. The buses are so easy and accommodating and completely safe, it's a nice way to see the town.

Best Things Nearby:
Shopping, beach, snorkeling, fishing, and tours.

Best Things About the Resort:
Not many unfortunately. Very limited on their meals and flexibility of the schedules of their guests. Many times we were touring and wanted a simple bite to eat, and the only option was their dinner show. This was something after being outside all day we were not interested in. However, having an all inclusive resort limited those options.

Resort Experience:
Restrictions on food availability after 5 pm. Not much in the way of options for the cocktail hour. We were limited on being able to sample other cuisine by being locked into having to eat what the resort offered, which was not much, since we were on an all-inclusive (mandatory) package. It was disappointing.

Incredible. They have wonderful food and the atmosphere is unsurpassed. The outdoor patio that we dined at was magnificient. Open and airy, it was very comfortable. Bugs and things were not a problem. Musicians serenaded us with music and singing while we dined creating a wonderful memory. We intend to go back this year again.
