Hilton Waikoloa VillageBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Hilton Waikoloa Villiage"

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at this resort and it was well worth the cost. The accommodations are nothing short of first class. We stayed in the Ocean Towers and had a breathtaking view of the bay every day. The Hilton’s property is so large that you'll find a Disneyland-type monorail and boats to get you from one end of the resort to the other. The Hilton hosts its own beach and lagoon, several swimming pools, water slides, gourmet restaurants, snack shops, gift shops, a relaxing spa, and a highly-booked Dolphin Adventure program. All of this can be done without ever stepping off the property. Of course there’s much more to see and do outside of the Hilton Waikoloa Village, but if you had to be trapped in one place on the Big Island, this would be my pick.

Best Things Nearby:
Hilton Waikoloa Village is across the street. A must-experience is the Hilton's Dolphin Adventure program for both adults and children. And the King's Shops are conveniently located about half a mile down the road.

Best Things About the Resort:
Sits directly on the Waikoloa golf course.

Resort Experience:
The Bay Club is an outstanding resort that lines the Waikoloa golf course and is situated directly across from the famous Hilton Waikoloa resort. The staff offers a welcome meeting for new arriving guests which highlights activities throughout the island, as well as the activities offered directly on the property. The town-home-type units and the surrounding grounds are kept meticulously clean. I highly recommend staying at this resort.

Roy's Waikoloa Bar & GrillBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Roy''s"

Roy''s is a great place to go and unwind after a hard day of sightseeing on the Big Island. Specializing in flavors that represent the islands, my recommendation would be their delicious butterfish. They offer a great atmosphere and serve large portions. So, if you find yourself in the King''s Shops in Waikoloa, drop into Roy''s with a large appetite.

Restaurant

Absolutely the best Malasadas on the island. For those of you who are not familiar with Malasadas, it is similar to a large powdered doughnut hole. Their local fast food menu is also very good. You get a lot of bang for your buck. Stop in the next time you head towards Hilo from the Kona side of the island.

Waipio Valley
This is a must do for the outdoor adventure traveller! Just simply driving to the rim of Waipi'o Valley cannot compare to seeing this lush tropical rainforest from the valley floor. And the best way to see it is on horseback. Friendly and knowledgeable local cowboys operate this guided tour.

Your tour starts from the "Last Chance Store" off of hwy 240 in the town of Kukuihaele. From there you'll be driven down to the valley floor by 4-wheel drive. The actual tour (ride) is about an hour long. There are many stops during your ride for great photo opportunities. However, take note that you are in a rainforest, so be prepared for light to medium rainfall. It will be very humid and muggy, but well worth the experience. I also recommend wearing jeans and a long-sleeve shirt to avoid being eaten by the mosquitoes.
