Hiking in the red rocks of Sedona is spectacular. The colors of the rocks, sky, and sunsets are incredible. Oak Creek runs through the town. Hike down to the creek or above the creek for great views. Climb up to the caves and into the valleys.

Best Things About the Resort:
Off the beaten path in the village of Oak Creek, gets you away from the Sedona crowds. Several pools. Great views of the red rocks. Quiet.

Resort Experience:
The unit was large, well appointed, and had great furnishings, a very nice kitchen, and a large bathroom with huge Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. A small balcony had views of the rocks and golf course. The arrangement of the building makes each unit very private. We loved the pool area and hot tubs (great after a long day of hiking). We drove around and looked at other timeshare resorts, but prefered the location of this resort. However, if you prefer to be close to town, shops, and more restaurants, you might want to stay closer in.

Attraction

This is an easy trail around the rock with views of other rock formations ("muffins"). This trail is off the main highway and can be crowded. Vortex viewers also like this trail. It's a good trail to get acquainted with the area before you move on to other, more interesting trails.

Attraction | "Hiking in Boynton Canyon"

Boyton Canyon
This is a wonderful hike, climb up and into the box canyon for a fabulous view. We packed in a picnic and ate at the top of the canyon, which was very peaceful.

Attraction

This is a wonderful hike deep into the gorge of Oak Creek. The variety of scenery makes this hike different from hiking all the red rock trails. As with all hikes watch out for changes in the weather, we got caught in the rain for a little while down at the bottom of the trail and the lightning was scary.

Oak Creek country club
A lovely course, "very walkable" according to the pro (we agreed). Altough this is a country club in a housing area, it is open to the public and a little less expensive than the resort course. The views are the same as at the Sedona Golf Resort course, which is nearby.

Buy a trail pass to park and get a hiking trail bookBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

At the Sedona tourist office you can buy a parking pass which will allow you to park at all trail heads. The pass will include some hiking trail info but I recommend buying a good hiking guide with trail maps and descriptions. We took mostly moderate trails of around 6 miles in length. Climbing into the rocks can be difficult for some people but the views are worth it. Fall is a great time of year to visit since there are no crowds, we had some days of hiking when we didn't pass another person.
