The Mexican Riviera--Puerto Vallarta

Overview

Quote:
There is so much to do in Puerto Vallarta. The weather is absolutely fantastic. It is one of our favorite destinations in the world. What we usually do is just hang out at the pool(s) all day and then go out to nice restaurants at night. There are so many outstanding restaurants there to visit, and not enough time. One day, we will go into town shopping, and another day we will rent a car and visit around outside the town itself. Quick Tips: I have listed some of our favorite restaurants separately. Among them are Cafe des Artistes, Treo, Le Bistro, Chico's Paradise, Le Kliff, Panarama, Senor Frogs, and Carlos and Charlie’s. There also appeared to be a lot of other great ones, but we ...Read More

Best Things Nearby:There is so much to do in the Marina area. Shopping, restaurants, a water park, water sports, boats, tours, and it's just a short drive ($5.00 cab ride) to the downtown. Best Things About the Resort:The units are fantastic lock-outs. Each bedroom has a whirlpool out on the balcony, all of which face the water. The decor is beautiful in each unit. Resort Experience:The timeshares share the property of the Westin Regina. There is a full-service spa there, several restaurants, several swimming pools, snack bars, and shops; everything you could possibly imagine. I would highly recommend staying that this resort. ...Read More

Best Things Nearby:The town of Nuevo Vallarta is new, with lots of things to do in the area. Best Things About the Resort:The resort is fantastic, with a great location right on the beach. Resort Experience:We went out to visit the Mayan Palace and thought it would be a very nice place to stay. There were lots of things to do out there and the resort was very nicely appointed. The pool was to die for, with a great view of the beach and ocean. We saw an electric deckboat, kayaks, and a train to "putz" around the grounds in. The golf course there seemed to be immaculate. My husband said that the fairways looked like greens. ...Read More

We went to El Set and dinner was fabulous. The service was unbeatable and the waiters were very friendly and helpful and speedy.

Some of the food was cooked at the table. Usually people want to be there for the fantastic sunset view. The decor is very nice. We had ten people with us and everyone raved about it.

The special for that night was a dinner for two people -- filet mignon, lobster and shrimp. It included soup or salad, rice and baked potato. Magnifico!

We had lunch here and would have to say we were very impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. It is located on the water at the Vallarta Marina, with both indoor and outdoor seating.

They served us tons of food and I would have to say the lasagna was the best I have ever had in my life.

The decor of the restaurant was simple, but elegant. It had two beautiful stained glasses in the ceiling and an exquisite statue in the middle of the restaurant.

This restaurant was breathtakingly beautiful. The best way to describe it would be: "Garden of Eden." Some of the rooms were in a house, and some were outside, set in a beautiful garden setting. There was music and lighting to make the entire evening romantic.

The food was fantastic and the service could not be surpassed. Several of us had filets and several had snapper. All meals were outstanding. And the desserts were to die for.

This is definitely one of the best meals we have ever had--definitely our favorite in Puerto Vallarta.

This restaurant is located a couple of miles south of Mismaloya Beach, so it's far from Puerto Vallarta. It's absolutely beautiful, set up on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Definitely worth the drive there.

This restaurant is out in the mountains south of Puerto Vallarta, next to a mountain stream. There were kids playing down in the stream and we would throw coins down there for them to find. We rented a jeep to get there and had a great time. The food is really good, as is the service and atmosphere. We had homemade guacamole, which was delicious. I had a Mexican lunch which was really good, kind of a combo meal. The best was the Coco Loco, which was served in a coconut. While we were eating, a young man singing and playing the guitar came around to entertain us. It was kind of funny when he made it perfectly clear to us that he wasn't paid by the restaurant, and worked by tips. All in al...Read More

This trip was definitely a great surprise. I just went because my husband wanted to go, and it couldn't have been better. The food was great and the service was excellent. It had the best of everything--food, drinks, partying, view, boating, fireworks, and entertainment. The best part was the part of the show that illustrated Aztec history. It was definitely a fun evening, and well worth the money. They also have a day trip, which I am sure is just as fun.
