Carlsbad Fun In The Sun

A June 2002 trip to Carlsbad by Kerry W

We really love Carlsbad and seem to go at least once a year if not more. It is a great little beach town.

The beaches in Carlsbad are great and where we stayed, at the Carlsbad Inn, we just walked across the street and they have a rental place right on the beach which is great especially when you have kids with you (or the kids at heart). :)

Quick Tips:

If you stay at the Carlsbad Inn I highly recommend eating at Jay's Gourmet and Fidel's. These two are not misses in Carlsbad.

Best Way To Get Around:

What I like best is that most of the restaurants that we wanted to go to were in walking distance, so you could eat that dessert and walk home not feeling guilty.

Restaurant | "Jay's Gourmet"

Jay's offers pizza, pasta, and some really great seafood combinations. This is a not to be missed place if you are in Carlsbad. It is a block from the beach and the food is amazing.

Fidel's is a great place to eat. The atmosphere is great and it has inside and outside dining. There is also a separate bar if that is what you like. The food is amazing. I personally like the tostada grande and they always use all white chicken meat, which is great. If you like Mexican food you will love Fidel's.

Attraction | "Legoland"

I like Legoland because it is not your normal amusement park. If you are looking for a change and a more relaxed place to go try Legoland.
