Havana

An April 2002 trip to Havana by spanishflea

Havana has so much to offer to the weary traveler. This city is filled with warm and kind people who seem to want to do anything they can to help you understand their country and lifestyle even more.

Overview

Havana city is something else!! I would recommend a trip into this beautiful city. I took black-and-white film with me to capture the images of Havana and I believe that the black-and-white added to the character I captured. This city has way too many undiscovered treasures around every corner; I was simply fascinated by the unique people and unique history of the buildings and vehicles. This city is unlike any other that I have seen in my travels.

Quick Tips:

Make sure you bring money to buy a unique souvenir, such as a painting done by a street vendor. There are so many intriging paintings to choose from, and you can typically pick them up for under US. I always try to buy something that is unique to the place I'm visiting, and try to stay as far away from the T-shirt thing.

Best Way To Get Around:

I walked around Havana and never used any other means of transportation.

Attraction | "Ernest Hemingway Cafe"

It was interesting. You can see the exact stool that Ernest Hemingway sat on...wow. Do not expect a life changing experience from this bar, it is filled with tourists cooling off from the heat with a beer in hand and tips about the Havana that they have seen. Great place to meet other travelers but not a real Cuban experience.
