This magnificent hotel and casino located on the Boardwalk offers 755 rooms. There are two towers: the main tower, which is 25 stories high, and the Orleans tower, which is the "preferred" tower and contains 19 stories. Of the 755 rooms, 59 are oceanfont suites--none of which I have ever had the pleasure to see. In the spring of 2003, a new 19-story tower will be unveiled containing 544 rooms. The accommodations are usually above standard; I have stayed here a few times and have had some sleepless nights because of the mattress--not because I was up all night gambling. The rooms are spacious and the mattresses are usually bearable. The bathrooms contain a double sink, hairdryer, travel-si...Read More

The rooms were very unappealing. The beds were like sleeping on bricks. We laughed the whole night at how uncomforatble the beds were. The place needs to be renovated and cleaned. The bathroom did not look like it was maintained properly.

The rooms do have air conditioning and heat. They offer no smoking rooms, continental breakfast (we did not try their breakfast), free parking, free local telephone calls and maid service. The hotel is ten minutes away from the casinos.

This was definitely a unique experience. The rates were a little higher because we stayed over on a Saturday night.

Mansion Cafe

The Mansion Cafe is a 24 hour restaurant/diner located on the second floor of the Showboat Hotel. The restaurant has the look of a mansion with each dining area decorated to represent different rooms of the mansion. The menu contains everything from breakfast to late night snacking. Breakfast choices are anywhere from pancakes to steak and eggs. The restaurant is located on the second floor. Easiest access to the restaurant is to take the escalator located in the lobby to the second floor. You are only steps away from the restaurant once you are on the second floor. This is one of the two new restaurants that Showboat had opened last year. We enjoyed breakfast here, which was delicious. We...Read More

Bombay Cafe

Restaurant | "The Bombay Cafe"

The Bombay Cafe is located on the first floor in the Trump Taj Mahal Casino (close to the boardwalk entrance to the casino). It is open 24 hours and serves breakfast all day and all night. The menu consists of appetizers (try the Nachos Grande -- it is HUGE), soups & salads, pizza & pasta, burgers, hot & cold sandwiches and entrees (they call it COMFORT FOOD!). I had the grilled vegetable sandwich, which consisted of grilled eggplant, squash, portobello mushrooms and mozzarella on focaccia bread. It is served cold with a side of potato chips, a pickle half and cole slaw. It was pretty good. My fiance had a hot open turkey platter which consisted of 4 large slices of turkey, a large se...Read More

Casa Di Napoli

Restaurant

Quote:
Casa di Napoli is located on the 1st floor in the Showboat casino, and it is my favorite restaurant to visit when I am in Atlantic City. This restaurant features family style Italian cuisine. You should make reservations if you visit on a weekend otherwise you may have to wait until 10:00pm for seating. It has happened to me in the past. The restaurant has two rooms that I have dined in and I've heard they also have an area for private parties. Now it is time to get to the best part of the journal: the meal. You are first served a basket of warm bread baked right in the restaurant, as well as a small portion of plum tomato foccacia bread (which is also warm). We ordered Ceasar salad for two. Some of your choices at the tables are Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, and Caribbean Stud Poker. The slot machines have an even larger selection ranging from your traditional slots to video pokers as well as statewide progressive slot machines. The slot machine denominations go from five cents and up.

The gaming is good, but the atmosphere is another plus. It is a very lively atmosphere with music playing in the background. You feel like you are really at New Orleans during Mardi Gras. The decor is fabulous and fun.

Trump Taj Mahal

Attraction

We actually were able to visit Showboat and Taj Mahal because there is a walkway connection within the hotels that can take you from one to the other. You just take an escalator, which is located on the first floor of either hotel close to the boardwalk entrances. Taj Mahal is just engulfing. There is so much going on and so much to do you need to plan out what you want to do first. You can either shop in one of their fine shops or dine in one of their many restaurants (Schecherzade, Mark Anthony's, Safari Steakhouse, Dynasty, Bombay Cafe, Sbarro and Casbah Cafe). Their is also a Hard Rock Cafe located in the hotel on the first floor by one of the many boardwalk entrances. The casino also...Read More
