This was a pleasure trip. We used an instant exchange with RCI and stayed at the Lawrence Welk. We played golf and attended a golf clinic

I attended a golf clinic put on by Steve Creps, one of the golf pros at Cathedral City golf course. The class was very basic, and the best part was I could hit range balls all day. There was an hour of lessons inside and then some one-on-one outside. I spent four days working on my swing.

My wife and I played the Mountain and Lakes course at Cathedral City, right next to Lawrence Welk's, for . It was fun.

Quick Tips:

The resort is all one bedroom units. Older but very well kept. It could easily accommodate four people in a room. Nice swimming pool and hot tub. Horse shoes and several activites to meet other people.

Only thing I did not like was they charged 50 cents for local calls and would not waive the cost or make calls for you at the concierge.

I would go back. If you go call once you have your confirmation and ask for a golf side or pool side room. They are the ones with views, but we were not disappointed at all with our view of the parking lot.

Best Way To Get Around:

We rented a car, and you need to. Catholic church just about a mile from the resort. Roads are easy to travel on, and the little map of the city was very helpful. Of course, my wife the navigator was also an asset.

Best Things Nearby:
Cathedral Canyon Golf course is connected to the resort. You can walk to it and there are 27 holes of golf. Grocery stores are just a short drive away, and so is the Catholic Church.

Best Things About the Resort:
All the rooms are one bedroom condos. They are spacious and can easily handle four people. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Towels for swimming are provided. We had a very nice kitchen with full sized appliances. There is a tv and VCR in each room. The only thing I did not like was a .50 cent charge on all local calls which they would not waive. We used a calling card and there was no charge for that.

Resort Experience:
There are rooms that face the golf course, the pool and the garden (parking lot). If you book a room once you get your confirmation, you can call and ask for a room in a specific location and if they have it they will give it to you. But no matter what room you have they were all nice. There are barbecues located around the grounds, but none on your decks. There is a horseshoe pit next to the pool. There is a lap pool for adults, three lanes, as well as the regular pool, which is heated, and a hot tub.

Complimentary donuts and juice are served one morning when the local activities people come and sell their programs. There is an activities center where you can work out and play pool or ping pong. The grounds were very clean and fun to walk in the evening. A coin operated washer and dryer are located in the activities center.

We spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub, which is where you meet a lot of fun people. It was a nice resort and we would visit it again. We went there on an instant exchange.

bunkers galore
A great championship course designed by Nick Faldo, with wide-open fairways with bunkers on all the holes. The black tees are 7006 yards. There are four sets of tee blocks. Greens are large with tremendous undulation. We attended a timeshare presentation to get two free rounds of golf, which was well worth the hour we spent there. The timeshare is nice but some of the rules were too restrictive. The sales people were very nice and not pushy.

Experience

While you are in Palm Springs area, you need to attend the street fair on Thursday night. They close down the main street and fill it with various arts, crafts, and vendors. Don't forget your kettle corn to munch on while you're walking around.

There is also the College of the Desert, which is a giant flea market held at the College on Saturday and Sunday, every week.

Both events are free to attend and a nice break.
