Big Island Volcanoes

A January 2003 trip to Kona by ssteam

My husband and I visited the Big Island of Hawaii and had a great time. We visited Volcanoes National Park. It was very impressive and not to miss. The lava was flowing when we visited and got within ten feet of it. Boy was it hot!

Best Things Nearby:
A full size grocery store was nearby and the prices were reasonable too.

Best Things About the Resort:
It was away from the traffic on Kona but still within a half an hour of Kailua-Kona and Waimea Village. They had an orientation meeting that explained the different activities available. Different speakers talked about their activity. It was much more informative than reading a brochure.

Resort Experience:
The condo was spacious and had a large master bedroom and a smaller bedroom. It has two full baths and a full size kitchen. We had breakfast every morning on the patio and watched the golfers. Our unit faced the west, so we could see the sun come up in the morning.

This is a great place to eat, with very inventive food. They have two locations--one north of Kona in the Kawaihae Shopping Center and one in downtown Hilo. Everyone is our party enjoyed their food. It was very attractively arranged and very good.
