A December 2002 trip
to Cape Town by Ebster
Quote: On a recent visit to Cape Town, I was impressed by not only the beauty of the scenery but also the fantastic warmth of Capetonians.
Great food, shopping, and sights for all at the V&A. Any serious shopper must go to Canal Walk shopping mall. It is huge and covers two floors with a massive three level food hall. International brands and local wares compete for custom in this labyrinth.
Camps Bay beach is a must see. Crystal blue Atlantic ocean carresses a sandy white beach. One of the best beaches in the world frequented by trendoids, topless bathers and tourists. Grand West is a newly opended casino and promises to entertain. It also plays host to a cinema, nightclub, and ice-rink along with many shops. Cape Point nature reserve is worth a visit. Go see the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Couple this visit with a trip to Table Mountain and Robben Island and I guarantee you it will be the best holiday ever.
Get down to Greenpoint Stadium on any Sunday to visit the craft market. It is enormous and fills the entire parking area and flows over into the side roads.
Try to visit Stellenbosch and the wine route. A wine estate called Spier in Stellenbosch arranges great wine tasting sessions. You can even buy a picnic basket filled with cheeses and wines and relax at the lake.
