Having spent the first week either on a rollercoaster or in a bar, we looked forward to chilling out at the Sea Oats Beach Club in Englewood.

The most memorable moment of the trip was on the night we arrived. It being hurricane season round that time there was an incredible lightning storm going on which made for some amazing photos. Englwood being mostly a fishing town the best things to do are to chill on the beach and try out the numerous watersports, the best of which were jet-skiing and deep sea fishing.

Quick Tips:

There are some great places to eat in nearby Venice - if you like seafood be sure to indulge in some of the local catch. Also be sure to pick a good spot on the beautiful beach right outside the door of your unit

Best Way To Get Around:

A car is definitely needed to get the best of the area - from Englewood you are about an hour or so's drive from Tampa in the North and Sanibel and Naples in the south as well as visiting the everglades.
Best Things Nearby:
Half of the key that the resort is on is a nature reserve, and you feel like you are stepping into the everglades, even though your resort is 400 yards back down the road. It being a quiet area, the best thing is there isn't very much nearby. You are still a short drive away from Busch gardens and the Tampa nightlife, but far enough away to forget that you are.

Best Things About the Resort:
It's right on the beach, so as soon as you step out of the pool you are on a two mile strech of beach. It's the perfect place to relax for a week - don't expect to find any nightclubs or amusement parks in Englewood.

Another great feature is the bbq area that faces out onto the beach, which makes for some great sunsets.

Resort Experience:
The beach is beautiful, and when we were there in October there was not very many people there. The two bedroom units are not the most expansive you will ever see - it wouldn't suit three adult couples, but two parents and four kids would fit just fine.
