Velas Vallarta Suite All Inclusive Resort

Best Things Nearby:Just about everything. The Marina is within walking distance. Downtown is a short bus or taxi ride away. The beaches are fairly close by if you don't like the one that is part of the resort. If you are a golfer, there are three good quality golf courses nearby, but they are priced typical of a tourist area. There is also a large grocery store, similar to a Super Wal-Mart, nearby. It is a decent walk, about a mile, or you can take a taxi. They have an ATM and banking services such as currency exchange which has better rates than the hotel. The grocery store will accept credit cards as well as pesos and $.Best Things About the Resort:The best thin...Read More

Cafe Tacuba/Victor's Place

Restaurant | "Victor's Place"

Victor's Place was our favorite of all the restaurants where we ate in Puerto Vallarta. The restaurant is located in the marina area on the end closest to the bay. All of the seating is located outside and there are not very many tables, but of all the places in the marina, Victor's was by far the busiest. There were a number of times that we walked up and down the marina, and there were only one or two tables full in the other restaurants, and Victor's was full. However, the service is fairly quick and the waits are typically short. We like to eat early, so we did not have any problem getting a table. The food is very affordable and excellent quality. While we were there, the special was Vera...Read More

La Ribera Restaurant

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "La Ribera"

Quote:
La Ribera is one of the two restaurants inside the Velas Vallarta resort. It is located next to the pool closest to the beach. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor seats offering a nice view of the bay and the sunset. The food is a mix of seafood and traditional mexican, with choices from fajitas and tacos to lobster. My wife and I both had mixed chicken and beef fajitas. The fajitas were OK, but being from Texas, we expected better and were a little disappointed. The meat did not seem to have been marinated or seasoned, just cut up and cooked. The fajitas also do not come with any cheese or sour cream, although we could probably have requested some. The margaritas were...Read More

OK Corral

Best Of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Quote:
We stopped at the OK Corral for lunch during the Jungle Trio tour from Tani Tours, which we booked at the timeshare through the Vallarta Adventures travel agency. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice being in a small town outside of the city and right next to a river where the locals wash their clothes. While we were there, a young boy took his horse down to the river and gave it a bath. On the ride back to the main road, a couple of kids raced our bus on their horses riding bareback. The kids won. Unfortunately, we were rather unhappy with the rest of the experience. Since a couple of the tours stop there, the prices were way too high. The cheapest main course was 100 pesos with most of...Read More

Pipis

Restaurant | "Pipi's"

Quote:
We ate at Pipi's based on the recommendations of other entries here on the RCI Community website. It is definitely as good as the other recommendations suggested, and was the best of the downtown restaurants that we ate at. We got there around 5:30, so we didn't have difficulty getting a table, but the place started filling up quickly by 6. My wife had the chicken fajita burrito, which was basically a chicken fajita wrapped up in a huge tortilla. I had a beef fajita chimichanga, which contained beef strips, rice and beans in a fried tortilla. A waiter comes by and makes fresh guacamole right in front of you and will make it as spicy as you want it. The margaritas are the typical fish-bowl size...Read More

Vagabundo Whale Watching Tour

Best Of IgoUgo

Attraction

Quote:
First off, for those of you staying in the Marina area, the Marina Pier is NOT the area where all the shops and eateries are. We were a little confused as to where the boat left from and had to take a taxi to make it on time. The Marina Pier is where the big cruise ships dock. Be sure to carry some cash with you because there is a 10 peso per person departure tax. The cruise was pretty good. They served some fruit and a croissant for breakfast on the way out to the whales. The seagulls seem to know exactly when the crew breaks out the food, because the boat is immediately surrounded by them. The birds are pretty talented as they are able to catch food thrown out from the boat in mid-air. Some br...Read More
