Things to do in the winter: skiing, skiing, and skiing. The
best part of the trip was skiing at
Steamboat Springs .
Visit
Steamboat Springs.Oh yeah, there’s snowmobile and horse riding, visiting the spas, shopping in wonderful shops, great restaurants, and some of the best scenery around. Bring lots of film.
From spring through the fall, hiking, biking, hot air balloons and, my favorite, fly fishing, is the thing to do. There are several fly fishing shops – visit Steamboat Fishing Company, and the Orvis endorsed shop at Bucking Rainbow . Both locations provide guide service year round, for those who like winter fly fishing for trout.
Quick Tips:
We flew in to Denver, approximately 180 miles to Steamboat. We rented an SUV and headed for the Rockies. We took the scenic route (I70W to 40N) over the Continental Divide. Absolutely a breath-taking ride. We took two rolls of pictures just on the drive!
Best Way To Get Around:
There is a free bus to take you from town to the mountain, and back. Many resorts provide free shuttle service.
