The Outer Banks Beach Escape

A June 2002 trip to Kitty Hawk by avad88

Sea Scape Beach and Golf Villas (Timeshare #5005) MP2, Kitty Hawk, N.C., (252/261-3837) is a great resort. With three sparkling pools (one indoor), putt-putt, gameroom, sauna, etc., there is lots to keep kids busy on rainy days.

Best Things About the Resort:
Location and amenities

Resort Experience:
This RID timeshare is very nice -- all have 2 bedrooms, 2 baths. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the other 2 twins. There are TVs in the living area and master bedroom. There are full kitchens in each unit with all the appliances, cookware needed to feed a crowd. While not as "plush" as some, the units are clean, comfortable and well-maintained. Although it is about l/4 mile from the beach (it fronts a golf course), there is a beach parking provided. The amenities are great -- 2 outdoor and 1 indoor pool, a sauna, workout room, playground, putt-putt, and a great staff. There are lots of things to see and do in the area to keep you busy even if you are not a "beach person".

Kids will love to tour the Elizabeth II, an old historic sailing ship. It is tied to the dock in Manteo surrounded by a beautiful boardwalk and lovely shops and restaurants. Buy the combo pass -- it is the best buy.

Attraction | "The Lost Colony"

If you are visitng the Outer Banks, don't miss "The Lost Colony". This is a wonderful outdoor drama performed from June-August and has been in production for many, many years. I've seen it several times and could watch it every year. There is singing, dancing and great costumes and it is history come alive. Kids love it. Bring bug spray since it is outside. A combo Pass is the best buy. The web site is .

North Carolina AquariumBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "N.C. Aquarium"

The N.C. Aquarium is a wonderful place for kids through adults. It has many tanks of lovely (and not so lovely) fish and sea creatures of all types. There is a "hands on" tank for handling starfish, shells, etc. and kids (and adults) are fascinated. It is included in the combo pass for Roanoke Island.

While visiting the Outer Banks, if you find you forgot something, before you buy it at the local Wal-Mart, you might rent it at Ocean Atlantic Rentals with four locations on the Outer Banks. We rented a kayak for $35 a day and the teens (and adults) loved it. They rent bikes, beach chairs, fishing rods and just about anything you might not have room to pack but need at the beach. Check them out at or call at 252-441-7823 in Nags Head.
