We visited the Vacation Village at Parkway for a week at Thanksgiving. The resort is wonderful. Rooms are beautiful and our favorite hangout was one of the two hot tubs. The location provided easy access to the Interstate, which made travel to any of the area theme parks convenient.

Best Things Nearby:
Easy access to everything, but we went to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure on this trip.

Best Things About the Resort:
Comfort, convenience, close to the Interstate, and nearby stores.

Resort Experience:
The rooms are very nicely decorated with plenty of items in the kitchen and bath areas. The customer service area is convenient and the people were extremely friendly. The pool area is clean with plenty of chairs. There are two large pools, a play area, and two hot tubs which were our favorite places to be. The kids loved the big screen TV in the living room and I liked the extra room in the bathroom area.

We spent most of our evenings just hanging out at the resort, playing board games, watching TV/movies, and visiting the hot tub. There aren''t a lot of activities/amenities on-site here since it''s so close to the major theme parks in Orlando, but my husband and son were able to get information and play golf at a nearby course, which they enjoyed a lot.

Medieval Times

Restaurant

We were thrilled with our night at Medieval Times. We paid extra to be seated in one of the front rows and it was a great. The entertainment was exciting to watch and we cheered our designated knight to victory. Our daughter was thrilled when the Blue Knight personally handed her a flower as he rode in front of us. The gift shops in the area outside the dining hall were nice and my son and husband were particularly interested in the one that featured swords and daggers. We were delighted to find that the food was very tasty and my teenagers were thrilled that they could eat with their hands without mom fussing about it. This is good family entertainment and we would not hesitate to return.

Islands of Adventure is one of the best theme parks we have been to. We do not typically go when it is peak season and this trip we did not visit on Thanksgiving Day, but we went every day the rest of the week and it was great. This time of year is warm enough not to need heavy coats and cool enough to be comfortable. Beware the water rides on cooler days though.

The park has areas that appeal to all ages from the Dr. Seuss land to The Hulk rollercoaster, which my husband describes as the most awesome rollercoaster he has been on. Later in the evenings the lines were shorter and some rides were ridden two times in a row because of the ease of going back through the line.

While smaller children would not be able to ride the more intense rides, there are shows that the entire family could go to and the little ones would be thrilled with everything in Whoville. We were there when all of the Christmas decorations were up in Whoville, and it was really a beautiful sight.

One of my daughter's favorite things to do was so simple and did not require a line. She loved going to see, hear, and talk to the talking fountain. We had to go there everyday just for the fun of it. I love all of the Disney Parks, Sea World, and Universal Studios, but if I had to pick a favorite I think it would be Islands of Adventure. Don't miss the Spiderman Ride. It's the BEST ride I've ever been on and I'm no spring chicken.
