Quote: This was my first time travel in Spain (but not for my wife who had gotten a summer scholarship to go to the University of Madrid in 1992). This was an adventure because we didn't know that our resort was far away from major transportation. We flew into Madrid took a three hour train ride on the Altair to Alicante (on the Mediterranean Sea) and then had to rent a car to Denia. Our mistake was believing that Denia, which is in Alicante province, was near to Alicante city.

This was a two story town house type resort with balconies which have a view of the Mediterranean. The room came equipped with two bed rooms, kitchen and dining room and pull out beds that could sleep eight in all. The television wasn't much and there was no telephone. The dining facilities were very informal, but overall the place was very relaxing, clean, and the people were friendly.

We stopped at a restaurant in the mountains near Alicante Spain outside of Guadaleste called Riu. The food was very good and the specialty was food roasted directly on an outdoor barbecue pit. Although we didn't sample it, they seemed to favor rabbit dishes, along with the more traditional pork, fish, etc. The view of the mountains was quite breathtaking.
