Mazatlan Vacation

A December 2002 trip to Mazatlan by MN Traveler

Quote: Vacation was a needed getaway. The weather was fantastic the whole week we were there. Basically, laid at the pool, ate, drank and did a little shopping. You are catered to the whole time you are there.

Overview

The food was fantastic everywhere we ate. Some of the favorites were Papagayla's at the Inn at Mazatlan, Gus & Gus, The Place and Sr. Taco's for breakfast. Sheik's was very good, but also spendy. Walking on the beach was relaxing and very clean. And of course the drinks and beer were great.Quick Tips: Make sure you bring a good pair of walking shoes, I ended up with blisters. You do alot of walking down the Golden Zone. Make sure before you get into a taxi you asked how much it is going to be. Do not exchange money at the resorts, they give the worst exchange. Walk down the golden zone, and the banks usually give the best exchange or the small booths on the road.Best Way To Get Around:...Read More

Best Things Nearby:Marina is right on the property. The boats coming in were nice to see.Best Things About the Resort:The rooms were very large and clean. Service was wonderful. It would of been nice to have two bathrooms.Resort Experience:The resort is beautiful. The marina makes it extra special. This resort is further down the Golden zone than the rest of the resorts, so it is very quiet. If you want more action, they have a shuttle running constantly that will take you to the other El Cid's resorts for no charge. There is activities for the kids, and the beach is very secluded and peaceful. ...Read More

We had a group of eight for dinner with us. Everybody had a great meal. You can get three lobsters with fixings and all the margaritas you can drink for $13.99, or the same with ribs for $9.99. I had shrimp and it was great. Service is excellent, and always there to fill up your margarita.

We ate here several times. We had brunch once and dinner a couple of times. They are very affordable. You can also buy more expensive meals. Service was excellent and food was always delicious. Try the shrimp chimichanga, it was out of this world. Very beautiful to sit there at night and watch the sun go down.

They have very good food and service, and nice prices. We had enchiladas and mahi mahi. Both meals were fabulous. It is on the other side of the road as the resorts -- careful crossing.
