We did a last minute exchange for cabo and having never been there we were full of excitement at what we might find. We were not disappointed one bit and fell in love with this beautiful pacific caribbean. Fiendly people, great restaurants and spectacular views.

Charming Cabo

Overview

My husband and I rented an ATV and went on a tour that went through a village, the desert, and to the Pacific Ocean. We had a picnic on a magnificent Pacific beach that was totally deserted. I highly recommend the glass bottom boat tours of Lovers Beach and the arch. The trip is very inexpensive, and the beach there is only accessible by boat and is lovely. The snorkeling was great too.

There is a colony of sea lions which inhabit some of the rocks out by the arch. Take a box lunch before you go which is offered by many of the local restaurants.

Quick Tips:

Don't miss the little beach bars on Medano Beach. They offer happy hour and have live entertainment.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walking is the way we chose. The resorts that we stayed at were close to the marina and downtown. We found that we spent most of the afternoon and evening walking and exploring. We stayed at Playa Grande and Villa de Palmar, which were equally as enjoyable. They offered many amenities and activities. The beach at Playa Grande is on the Pacific side and has a bad undertow, so stay clear of the surf.

On the otherhand Palmar is on Medano Beach, which is on the Sea of Cortez and offers calmer water that you can swim in. Both beaches are spectacular however.

Best Things Nearby:
Resort is just a short 10-minute walk to the marina and downtown. The marina has many fine outdoor restaurants and shops. Walking to the marina became a daily ritual.

Best Things About the Resort:
The swimming pool complex has three freeform pools and a large jacuzzi. The pools are inviting and one of them has a swim-up bar. I loved the master suite, which was luxurious and comfortable. This is a very well kept resort.

Resort Experience:
The resort is located on a quiet beach and removed from the hustle of vendors. The beach is beautiful, with lovely scenery from the cliffs and boulders surrounding the beach. This portion of the Pacific has bad undertows so you do not want to get into the surf--I would certainly not recommend this beach to families with children. For adults, however, the waves crashing ashore are very dramatic and it’s enjoyable to sit on a rock and watch them pound the shore. We enjoyed the to-quality restaurants.

Playa Grande Resort
Avenida Playa Grande 1 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
800.344.3349

Best Things Nearby:
The marina and downtown are a short 10-minute walk away. Great restaurants are also within walking distance. There are fun beach bars with nightly entertainment and happy-hour specials. You do not need a car to stay here.

Best Things About the Resort:
The unit comes with a great screened-in porch with an overhead light; you can play cards at night or just sit around and chat. We loved the fact that you could leave the patio door open to the bedroom and listen to the waves coming ashore. The unit was very nicely furnished, with comfortable beds, and there were great restaurants nearby, and a marvelous view of the arch.

Resort Experience:
The resort is a short walk down to the beach, where you can join in the fun at beach bars or rent a horse and go for a beach ride. No need to worry, as someone frequently cleans the beaches. Medano Beach has beautiful white sand and clear aqua-blue water. This is one of my favorite places and I would definitely return again.
