Maria Sabina, Monte Alban, Mitla, El Tule, El Mercado ("the market"), The Zocalo, etc.
In Oaxaca you can just relax, and forget the busy city. the moment you get off the plane (or bus) you will think that you are in a different place, not Mexico because the atmosphere is magical . . .
Quick Tips:
Unfortunately RCI doesn''t have resorts in Oaxaca, but there are very good hotel options. For low budget there is the Hotel Veracruz, within walking distance from Historic Downtown, or for high budget there is the Villa Fortin Hotel or the Best Western.
Night Life: You have to go to the Maria Sabina's Pub it is just wild.
Cultural: Monte Alban one of the most beautiful places I''ve been, there is a magnificent piramid lay out there, you can learn about the Zapotec culture there, they7 have a little museum with tons of archeological pieces. Mitla The city of the death, is a great place to visit, again lot''s of Zapotec ruins; hierve el agua "the hill of boiling water, this is a drop dead hill, here the calcium on the stones makeit look like if the hill has a petrified waterfall, just beautiful!
Best Way To Get Around:
If you like to try rare food, go to the street called Libres, there at night, you can have all kind of Oaxaca style meat, sausages, cooked directly at fire served with a huge "tortilla" what they call "Tlayuda" (YUMMY!)
Making this short, Oaxaca city is just a place where you''ll love to go back year after year for the rest of your life!!!
Cabs are in regular rate - for US.50, you get around town (one way please).
