My wife and I spent the first two nights of our honeymoon at this beautiful little hotel in Volcano, Hawaii.
The owner is a former makeup artist for the Magnum PI TV series, and is an accomplished chef.
We stayed in the honeymoon suite which cost us US$140 per night (in 1999).
The room had a beautiful four-poster canopy bed, fireplace, and private balcony. There was also a huge bathroom with skylight and towel rack heated with volcanic steam.
It was at this hotel that I had THEE best breakfast I have ever eaten
(macadamia nut pancakes, papaya, and Kona coffee...AWESOME!)
Dinner was also fantastic. I had the hasenpfeffer. They even gave us a free bottle of champagne since it was our honeymoon.
The hotel is at a high altitude, so bring a sweater when staying there.
This is my favorite hotel anywhere in the world.
