The Lake Tahoe area is wonderful in the summer. Warm days for hiking and lake activities, and cool nights for gaming and night life.

Emerald Bay
We took a tour around the lake, stopping at many smaller casinos and tourist stops in between. Delightful. And some of the best trails in the West are just off Lake Tahoe Hwy (around the lake). Be sure and bring good shoes and water. We were even warned to bring pepper spray for bears!

Quick Tips:

Best to have a rental car to take excursions away from the casinos, although if you want, there are shuttles from nearly all the resorts to the big casinos. Although we are seasoned gamblers, there ae so many pretty things to see around the lake. Get out and spend some money on stuff you will remember.

Best Way To Get Around:

Get a rental car in Reno. It''s a fun, somewhat long, drive through great scenery to get to the lake. And there are plenty of day trips to hiking or photography points of interest. Go to Emerald Bay. It''s the most secenic point around the lake and a photographer''s dream.
Best Things Nearby:
Every great bistro and shopping area is near by. The resort sits on the Lake for a great view, too. Ask for a lake view as you check in.

Best Things About the Resort:
The staff is great; breatfast is excellent; shuttle to casinos; nice pool and the in room spa/tub is to die for. Even the kitchen is well equipped for the occasional in room meal. I spent a lot of time on the balcony watching birds and sniffing the pine scents that permeate the whole area.

Resort Experience:
Embassy has a well-developed concierge desk that can answer many questions about everything in the area. They can even get you discounts. The staff really bent over backwards to make sure we were provided for. There is a video rental store across the street, but we were too busy helping the local casino economy to rent anything. The cafe is open for breakfast and is darn good. Parking is problematic, so use the parking service.

Great prime rib in a wonderful, airy setting. The service is good and the meals are top notch. You're gonna be glad you decided to try it. A "locals'" bistro, for sure.
