A November 1999 trip
to Depoe Bay by drstp
Quote: This was a trip we took while my dad was sick and we knew he would be passing away in a short time. It was to Depoe Bay on the Oregon Coast at a World Mark Property
The weather was good and my dad sat in the room overlooking the kelp beds and watched the whales swimming by. The whales came within 300 feet of the shore. My daughter,son-in-law, wife, and mother were there. My dad got to see the whales one more time. What a great memory.
Just north of the resort is an inlet from the ocean that leaves tidepools to search through when the tide is out. You need to walk down a steep bouldered bank, but it was worth it.
You can get fresh salt water taffy in town and watch them make if from scratch.
Also in town next to the main highway is the blow hole, a section of rock where the incoming waves crash into the rocks and send a funnel of water into the air.

Very relaxing. There are now four swimming pools with one that is partially indoors and outdoors. It''s located right off Highway 101, but you don''t hear any of the traffic.
