This was a great place to take a family vacation with fantastic dining and activities for everyone!

There's lots of things to do other than the beach. Make sure to include dolphin cruises, harbor shopping, fireworks and nightly entertainment through the summer nights, and great dining for all atmospheres, although it can get pretty expensive in some restaurants! You can also sail or jet ski for some added adventure, or enjoy rollerblading, horseback riding, or some of the nightlife that seems to be everywhere!

If you like to golf, this is the place to be! Some of the world's greatest courses are played right here to include the PGA's MCI/WorldCom Heritage Golf Classic!

Quick Tips:

Getting on and off the island can be pretty hectic on the weekend when most people are either coming or going to their vacation rentals, so be prepared! Dining can be a bit pricey as well so have plenty of cash or credit with you.

Best Way To Get Around:

Most of the resorts are either right on the beach or within walking distance, but you'll need a car for most things. If you like to ride bikes, they have tons of bike rentals for a really good price that allow you to take the bicycle trails that go all over the island.

We fell in love with the two bedroom timeshare we were looking at and stayed in for the week, and ended up purchasing a three bedroom unit for future stays. The resort is very well maintained and offers plenty of things to do for the whole family. We received a golf package with ours that allows four people to golf free everyday at two exclusive courses! They have a great activities schedule and fun BBQ's on the poolside. It's by far the best place to go with families!

Spinnaker Resorts at Waterside
off Pope Avenue Hilton Head, South Carolina

Here
The Kingfisher Restaurant was one of the names we often heard had excellent food, and so we decided to give it a shot. The food was very good, however the dining experience was not. Although it may have been the exception, our waiter was absolutely terrible. Not once did he offer to refill water or check to see how the food was. Instead he spent all of his time on a couple that was obviously very well off. That pretty much spoiled our view of the restaurant, but the atmosphere and location was very nice, with live entertainment. I'll try it again with hopes that we have better waitstaff.

Coligny Beach

Activity

My youngest daughter playing in the sand near the water...great for making sandcastles!
We have a three bedroom condo here during the summer which allows us to bring our whole family down for vacation, which works out great...we provide the beautiful place to stay and get free dinners and child care in return!!! The beach provides plenty of space to throw frisbees, footballs, or ride bikes you can rent. The water is very calm and perfect for small children to play in. You have to go out quite a ways to get into deeper water, where the waves are better for adult fun!

Dolphin Cruise

Activity

Lots of seagulls around the harbor.
A very enjoyable and relaxing ride as you pass by Spanish Wells, Wexford & Long Cove, Harbour Town, Daufuskie Island and get a chance to see some of the beautiful marshlands & wildlife the island has to offer. The entire trip is narrated by your captain which can be somewhat of a comedy as well. We've been on the boat a few times and have always seen the dolphins. Great for kids as long as they don't mind being on board for a couple hours. You are free to move around the boat.
