A February 2002 trip

Quote: Overview of sights around Barbados and reviews of beach destinations
Our favorite beaches were Accra and Crane. Accra had local charm of vendors and ladies who braid hair - all were very nice. There was a wonderful restaurant on the edge of the beach that we had dinner at.
We also visited Harrison's Caves. It was a tram ride through the caves, and call to make reservations as it can be busy, but definitely worth the wait.
We visited the rugged east coast to eat at Bonito Beach Bar to experience local flavor and cuisine. A buffet in Barbados does not mean serve yourself or eat all you wish. Watch out for the hot pepper sauce that all the locals eat, it is extremely hot. While the food wasn't my favorite (they eat a lot of lamb) the ride out there was breathtaking. This was probably one of the most beautiful spots that we saw on the island.
Don't miss the Earthworks pottery studio while you are there. Beautiful pottery very reasonably priced.
Most restaurants have their menus posted outside so you can see the price and if there is something available for everyone. Don't stop at the first one as we found that there was quite a price difference between one restaurant and another.
Our best days we went to the beach in the morning and then to sites in the hottest part of the day.
A good thing that we did was to bring water bottles and freeze them at night so they would melt as we went through the day. That way we always had cold water without costing a fortune. We bought water at first, but then found out that because Barbados is a coral island that it has some of the cleanest drinking water available.

Nice community feel, several folks there come back each year. They were very friendly but not invasive. We were right on the golf course.

There's one TV for the whole condo, but not much to watch. Nice balcony view, and lots of cool birds that hang out on the balcony. Full kitchen with adequate supplies. The condo was homey and comfortable for a family.

The green monkeys wander between the general reserve and this park area. We visited at feeding time so that we saw the largest variety of animals.
