Overnights in Amarillo, TX

We found this motel in one of the coupon books you pick up at rest stops and other places along the highway when you travel.

Since we only needed a place to stay overnight, we decided to give it a try as the rate on the coupon was $29.99 a night for two people including a continental breakfast in the morning.

We found the motel to be clean and comfortable. It was quiet, even though it faced a moderately busy street. The continental breakfast was danish, coffee, and juice. Not fancy, but enough for us.

Our big mistake of our trip was not staying at this motel again on our return a month later as we outsmarted ourselves trying to be east of the main part of Amarillo so we wouldn't have to drive through rush hour traffic on Monday morning. See journal entry for Motel 6.

In the future, this will be a place of choice for an overnight stay.

Terrible. The room itself was old but comfortable. However, the grounds of the motel were filthy, which we didn't notice around the office when we checked in. In the parking lot by the unit, you stepped over trash to get to your unit. Did not feel real comfortable in the area when outside.

Like all Motel 6's, no continental breakfast. We stayed here trying to get east of Amarillo to miss the Monday morning rush hour. However, we should have stayed on the west side at the Executive Inn where we stayed going west a month earlier. See entry on it.

We frequently stay at Motel 6's for an overnight stop, and this was one of the two worst we've ever stayed at.

Apparently China Star restaurants are a Franchise type of restaurants. We have one at home in Kansas City, See Kansas City Journal, that is terrific.

This one was not as good as the one in Kansas City but was a very nice Chinese Buffet. A very good selection of chinese entree's with a salad bar and dessert bar including soft serve ice cream.

However, felt that many of the entree's had very similar flavors. The General TSO's Chicken was an exception with it's own spicy flavor that was very tasteful.

There was quite a group of diners when we were there so obviously it appeals to the tastes of many of the locals.

A very nice Denny's restaurant. One nice thing about Denny's is that the menu's are consistent around the country and the flavor and taste of the food is consistent. So when you just want a good tasting meal without the risk of experimenting with a new restaurant in a new area, Denny's are a good choice.

This specific Denny's was definitely among the higher quality Denny's we've eaten at over the years. The employees, from the person who greeted us when we entered, the waitress, and the person who took our money, were all extremely pleasant.

Our waitress was courteous, helpful, took good care of us and was unobtrusive unless needed. The food was well prepared, hot when we got it, and was very satisfying.

Definitely a good Denny's to visit.
