Best Things Nearby:Lake Wallenpaupack, Paupack Hills Country Club, and Claws 'n' Paws. Best Things About the Resort:Large one bedroom unit in a quiet section of the Poconos.Resort Experience:We were at Tanglwood Resort near Lake Wallenpaupack (the resort has four locations: mountain, golf, lake, and resort). It was a very large unit (a bit old but very clean). It's about 10 minutes from the main lodge. We went shopping in Hawley and Honesdale. Watch out for deer - they're everywhere. This is a good starting point for visiting (less crowded than Shawnee). Unit Type: 1 Bedroom ...Read More

Great seafood at good prices near Wallenpaupack Lake. They had a great staff. We had the stuffed shrimp, salmon, and pasta, and it was delicious. Nice covered terrace. Good service.

This is a private golf course, but you have access if you are staying at Tanglwood Resort. It's in excellent condition with great views. Lots of deer around the golf course. I think we cannot play on weekends.

Bushkill Falls Best of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Quote:
The Niagara of Pennsylvania (publicity) is not Niagara Falls, but nevertheless is a wonderful place. It's in the woods (so not too warm). You have the option of a few trails depending on how long you want to walk. It must be incredible in the fall or spring, and it's a nice place to picnic also.

Claws 'n' Paws Best of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

Quote:
Claws 'n' Paws wild animal park is near Lake Ariel. It's a fun place with children. Not huge but big enough to have fun. Lots of trees (so not too warm).

Costa's Family Fun Park can be reached via Route 6 from Hawley. There's a small driving range (just ok), good mini-putt, great baseball and softball hitting cages, and others things for younger kids like go-karts, arcade, etc. There's also a small restaurant with good ice cream.
