COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG – it's a living history museum, the re-creation of an 18th century American city, with more than 500 buildings on its 173 acres of which 88 are recreations of originals. Historic Williamsburg lets you see life as the Colonists did, portrayed by costumed interpreters and even some of its citizens. It's an excellent opportunity to interact with 1774 America and learn about the beginnings of freedom.

Also take the time to see Carter Grove –Located 8 miles southeast of Williamsburg. Encounter more than 400 years of Virginia history, from a partially reconstructed 17th century English settlement to a restored 18th century slave quarter to a grand mansion decorated in 1940’s Colonial Revival style.

Quick Tips:

Visit all three attractions in order: Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg (including Carter Grove) and Yorktown.

Best Way To Get Around:

At Colonial Williamsburg - park in the parking lot at the visitor center, take the redline bus to a stop close to the Governor’s Palace, and walk. The grounds are about 1/2 mile wide and 1 mile long. There is also a Blue bus route with several stops around the outside of the grounds. You can take the Colonial Parkway to Jamestown and Yorktown.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite. It was very nice but a little small. The two bedroom units were excellent. They only had an outdoor pool and since it was October, an indoor pool would have been better. All units are cottages with 2 to 4 units in each. The one bedrooms are all downstairs, while in the two bedroom units, the bedrooms are up. We purchased it on an Auction Site for $217.00 for 7 nights.

Resort Experience:
Still under construction, but an excellent location. Everybody was friendly, which made our stay memorable. The one bedroom unit was a little small. The bedroom has a King Size bed, large TV w/VCR, but no closet. The combination living room, kitchen, dining area was very small with a 13" TV on top of the frig.
