I traveled to Wolfsburg in the Summer of 1999 as part of my European/Auto Manufacturing tour. I was fortunate to visit the countries of Germany, France, Netherlands and northern Italy during this budget backpacking trek.

Volkswagen factory tours, AutoStadt auto center, Volkswagen AutoMuseum, Wolfsburg Castle with city historic museum, Porschestrasse Pedestrian Shopping Zone, Vfl. Wolfsburg Football, and Badeland Water Center.

Quick Tips:

There are English tours available at of the Volkswagen factory. Be sure to also check out the view from atop city hall. Rent a VW from a local rental agency and take a trip along the Autobahn (no speed limit!) - a great way to see the country. Check out the auto museum! Try another restaurant besides the local McDonalds.

Best Way To Get Around:

Deutsch-Bahn rail service from major cities (Berlin, Hanover) runs every hour. From Autobahn#2, head north on A39. Easy access by foot to view and visit many parts of the city.

Attraction | "Porsche Strasse (Porsche Street)"

Porsche Strasse (Porsche Street) is a pedestrian only zone of the city of Wolfsburg. It runs approximately 12 blocks north to south. The street offers plenty of retail and specialty shops, as well as restaurants and take outs. Outdoor markets are ongoing throughout the warmer seasons, offering great bargins on new and antique items.
