Overview

Olathe has grown tremendously over the past few years. While it was considered it's own seperate town, it has now been absorbed as one of Kansas City's suburbs. The great thing about Olathe is its many parks. There is always something to do here, whether its shopping, catching a movie or dining out. The Great Mall of the Great Plains totes itself as being the largest outlet mall in Kansas. It's a great place to take the kids because of the movie theater and a place called "Jeepers" that lets them run wild. AMC 30 is one of the largest movie complexes in all of Kansas City and the surrounding suburbs. Joe's Crab Shack--dancing and seafood, they go together so well! ...Read More

Zio's Italian Kitchen has some of the best Italian food I've eaten. The best part is the price. Compared to Olive Garden or other Italian restaurants, Zio's is relatively inexpensive. We ordered appetizers, dinner and drinks. My lasagna was about $6.00. The dessert menu is fun! Instead of putting it on a usual booklet menu, they use telescope-like things where you click the handle and the picture changes.

Joe's Crab Shack

Restaurant

Quote:
Joe's Crab Shack is not your typical seafood place. The waiters and waitresses wear tie-dyed t-shirts and dance around your table all while delivering your meal. If you happen to go on your birthday, they'll make you do something terribly embarressing like spelly 'happy' with you butt. All around good-time and great food. The price is kinda high though.

AMC 30 Olathe Station

Attraction | "AMC 30--Olathe Station"

Quote:
With 30 screens, the Olathe Station has all the new releases as well as the long-playing movies. Tickets are between $3.50 and $7.00. Student tickets are about $4.00 so bring the ID. The twilight movies (around 5 p.m.) are the same rate as the student tickets so it pays to go to the movies before dinner.

My best advice is to pick one of the newest released movies because your screen will be one of the biggest. However, if you're going for the romantic thing, then pick an older movie because sometimes you'll get the place to yourself.

The Great Mall of the Great Plains has plenty of stores to choose from. My favorite is Off 5th. It's a Saks Fifth Avenue outlet. They also have a Dillard's Clearance Center (clothing, Marshall's, Linen 'N Things and much more. Jeepers! is a play place for kids. The Great Mall also has a movie theater. Every person in the family will find something they like about this mall.
