The west side of Maui is a peaceful and beautiful place. I know what it's like since I live here. You have to know about things before you go there or you waste time and money. That`s good advice for any travler. Lahaina is the best place for shopping. Maui is a great place for everyone. You can spend hours doing things but its still fun.

Overview

Sunset
Do you want some hints on what's good and what's not? First of all, I will name some great dining:
1. If you like fast Chinese at its best, go to Kahana's spectacular China Boat.
2. Your girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife might think the Plantation House is expensive, but it's spectacular. Plantation House is a 5-star restaurant with 5-star sunsets.
3. Taste of Paradise is the best oceanfront restaurant on Maui. It's a true taste of paradise. You can just enjoy while you can.
4. For the best sushi in town, go to SANSEI'S. They have the best food!

Quick Tips:

I really like to go to Fleming Beach. That's where the waves are the biggest.

Lahaina is a great place for shopping and walking around. You can go to Froont St., Lahaina Cannery Mall, etc.

Snorkeling at Molokini is so much fun.

Wallace Theaters at the Wharf have state-of-the-art sound and all the new movies.

The Plantation Golf course is a beautiful golf course but hard! It has the longest hole of the PGA tour at 633 yards!

Best Way To Get Around:

Take the Kapalua shopping shuttle to get all around Kapalua and into Kaanapali. The Sugar Cane Train runs from Kaanapali to Lahaina, but it's very slow. I usually just drive. It takes a while to get to the airport, about 45 minutes, and the road is winding. And just a friendly Hawaiian reminder: Mahalo means thank you.

Restaurant | "Kimo's"

Boss Frog Snorkel Shop
Kimo's is casual, quintessential, and Hawaiian -- a superb restaurant. You should see the oceanfront view and Kimo's spectacular sunsets. The best time to see a sunset is 6-6:30pm. Try the unforgettable prime ribs. They have the best prime ribs on Maui. Kimo's is renowned for its fresh Hawaiian fish. For the keiki (children) they have tail-wagging hot dogs. The parents should try the lava flow. For dessert they have the famous Kimo pie--an ice cream and cookie crust with topping. Every night they have Hawaiian music. The unforgettable memories start at Kimos.

Bazzar FestivalBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "THE BAZZAR!!"

The Bazzar is a festival that the whole family will enjoy. It has rides, food, drinks, and more. The Bazzar is on March 7 and 8. They have the biggest sale on the west side of Maui. If you're old you might remember when you were a kid like the coke lift or the goldfish toss. They have great tasting foods from Outback Steakhouse and Rusty Harpoon, and they have kulua pig, which tastes great. For dessert they have malasadas, which are like benayes. It is so spectacular that you`ll want to stay forever. Have fun.

Bazzar Festival
Sacred Hearts School Lahaina, Hawaii

Kapalua Plantation Course is known for the Mercedes Championships held there every year in January. It's the kickoff for the PGA tour. For more information on the Mercedes Championships, go to Kapalua Villas . This is a challenge course because it's all up and down hill. If you come here to golf and you plan to come here for at least 4 months a year, you should get a membership from the Kapalua front desk on Office Road. Then you can play golf for $130 off the regular price. When I went there, I found it very relaxing, and the views are award-winning. The grass is cut in fine and clean streaks. Same with most of Kapalua golf courses, most sunsets fall between 6 and 6:30pm.

Attraction | "Enjoying the great outdoors!"

Maui is like a sanctuary for gigantic bugs, bird whales, and tourists. The pristine waters of the Pacific crash into the Hawaiian lava rock, making Maui a natural habitat for animals. Maui is known for its endangered species of plants and animals, like the Silversword or the Monk seal. The bugs on Maui populate the rainforests.

Maui is also a non-stop photo-op. If you just go out hiking in Haleakala, Iao Valley, or the Seven Sacred Pools, you will surround yourself with these beautiful panoramas. One way to view these things is to go to the Maui Tropical Plantation. Maui is simply a serene setting for writers and a relaxation temple for all.

Outdoors!
Maui Lahaina, Hawaii

Turtle Rock
The most active, beautiful and spacious beach on Maui is D. T. Fleming. It has great sunsets at 6:00 P.M. You can see all of Molokai from here. It’s great if you stay at the Ritz Carlton (a 5 star hotel) nearby. On the left of Fleming’s beach is a holy place where ancient Hawaiian kings are buried. Dragon's Teeth is a point of lava rock that looks like a dragon's teeth. On top of Dragon's Teeth there are two blow holes. You can see Lanai from the other side of this point. Fleming’s Beach has the 3rd biggest waves on Maui next to Honolua Bay and Baldwin Beach. If you need a drink or anything else there is the Beach House cafe but it is expensive so bring your own if you want. You can have a cook out here. There are picnic tables. Be sure to follow the warning signs. If you do this is a fun place for your family.
