Quote: So much to see so little time! That's how we felt when we arrived by Amtrak in Chicago. We managed to see a snapshot of Chicago by using an all-day bus tour on Grayline Tours. We also were able to squeak in a river cruise with Shoreline Sightseeing and some time at Navy Pier.

We used the Grayline Bus Tour for our all-day city tour. One of the best things about this tour was the Lake Michigan luncheon cruise aboard the Spirit of Chicago. This cruise was an enjoyable, delicious and relaxing two hours. The one thing that was disappointing about the bus tour was not to have more time to get off the bus and visit the different attractions. A very convenient and clean place to stay in Downtown Chicago is the Best Western Inn of Chicago. This modest hotel is located one-half block east of Chicago's Magnificent Mile. It is within walking distance to the Oak Street Beach, the Water Tower, and Navy Pier, to name a few.

The Best Western Inn of Chicago guest room that we stayed in was small, clean and newly renovated. The Newsmaker Restaurant right in the hotel has good food and service.

Although it was a very long day, it seemed like we didn't have enough time to spend at any one thing except the Spirit of Chicago luncheon cruise. We started the day with going through the north-side of Chicago and seeing things like the Cubs Stadium and Northshore Drive. We were then let off at the Navy Pier to spend only a few minutes before we had to board the Spirit of Chicago for our luncheon cruise. Once aboard the boat we were treated to a delicious luncheon buffet. There was some entertainment and trivia about Chicago during the lunch. We spent most of ...Read More
