Visiting UC Boulder

An August 2002 trip to Denver by cmk102485

A two day jaunt to Colorado for some baseball games and to visit the University of Colorado at Boulder. I went with my father.

Our hotel was the Westin and it was a perfect hotel. We ate there at the Palms Steak House, which wasn't cheap but the food was supurb. If you're a baseball fan, many teams stay at this hotel. We were able to see the New York Mets leave the hotel in the morning.

Coors Field is one of the best places I've been to to see a game.

Quick Tips:

You don't have to rent a car except to get to and from the airport which is a really long drive. Most Denver attractions are an easy walk.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walking is fine. Some public transportation in Denver but not too much. As I said, rent a car only for the drive to and from the airport which I belive is about 25 miles each way.

Absoultly excellent, the Westin chain has what's called "Heavenly Products" which means you have 5 pillows per bed and a really excellent bathrobe. The beds were extremly comfortable and the TV offered some good channels. The pool was also nice as was the restaurant in the hotel. Room service was prompt and tasty.

Steak, appetizers and bread were all very good but selection and quality of sides were marginal at best. Service was excellent as were the facilities. Prices were very, very high,

Attraction | "14th Street Mall"

This is a window shopper's dream. The city of Denver turned 14th street into a mile and a half mall with a huge selection of stores. One end of the mall ends at the Colorado State Capital which is definetly a sight to behold and the other at the Denver Union Station. Plenty of stores from restaurants to local along the line.

Great place to see a ballgame. I saw two while I was in town and enjoyed both. The fans are polite and fun to be around and concessions are great. It also offers one of the best views from outside the stadium of any park I've been to.
