If you're going there to golf, I recommend the following courses: Barefoot Landing Resort courses(Fazio). Excellent conditioned course, beautiful bent grass greens. The resort will take a picture of your group on the first tee, and a picture of your swing, then put both in a nice foldout for you to take home for only . Great for the memories. Also play the Dunes. It's a private course, but they will let you play. Senior Tour events have been played there in the past. Arrowhead country club is a great deal for the price- for 27 holes. Quail Creek is also nice and not much traffic, so tee-times are generously handed out. Man-O-War is nice but too crowded. All courses are within 20 minutes of Surfside Beach. Tupelo Bay par 3 course just south of Plantation Resort on Hwy 17 is nice to take a kid or beginner on. Good range as well.

Quick Tips:

Rent a car if possible because you're not right downtown, and will need to drive everywhere. There are two course on the premises but are your typical Muni course conditions.

Best Way To Get Around:

Rental vehicle.

Resort Experience:
The rooms are average, good for a family to stay in. Full kitchen with adequate room to move. You won't feel to awfully bad if the kids make a mess. The kids can also feed the ducks that stroll by right out of the back door. There is a small stream five feet from the back door with the eighteenth hole right on the other side of the water. Very quiet surroundings.

Restaurant | "The Melting Pot"

The Melting Pot is a sit-down, somewhat fine dining atmosphere, dimly-lit to provide a romantic feel. Extensive wine list. The Melting Pot specializes in the serving of a Fondue presentation. One of a kind experience. Great wait staff.

Attraction | "Barefoot Landing Resort Course(Fazio)"

There are four courses on site. I only played the Fazio design. The course was in great shape. The greens were bent grass and rolling true. There is little water, but plenty of other trouble. Fairways are somewhat tight. It is a true test of your golf game. You can't call it a placement course, but it's definitley not wide open either. A good mix of golf, and a very beautiful course.
